    Pregnancy & Postpartum Therapy

1 in 7 mothers experiences anxiety and/or depression during pregnancy or after giving birth. Postpartum anxiety and depression are highly common, but temporary and very treatable conditions. Postpartum therapy is a very effective form of treatment, and symptoms can often be resolved within a few months. Symptoms associated with postpartum anxiety and depression can develop over time or have a rapid onset. They can begin during pregnancy or up to one year after giving birth.

    Common symptoms include:

    • difficulty sleeping
    • feeling as though one is on an emotional rollercoaster
    • feeling disconnected from the baby, others, or ones self
    • feelings of guilt, inadequacy, or worthlessness
    • concerns about something bad happening
    • irritability
    • thoughts of self harm or harm to ones baby
    • difficulty concentrating or making decisions

Most often, early screening and intervention can protect the well-being of the mother, baby, and entire family system. In therapy, I support mothers, partners, and families around various issues related to the childbearing years, including:

    • decision to become a parent
    • struggles with infertility
    • pregnancy loss or termination
    • postpartum symptoms – stress, anxiety and depression
    • parenting support
