Laura Tabak, PSY.D.

Dr. Tabak specializes in Women’s Mental Health and supporting people through specific challenges that arise around fertility and during in the perinatal period. Through her work as a psychologist, she has successfully helped clients to address a range of concerns, including: self-esteem issues, unsatisfying relationships, work stress, self-destructive behaviors, trauma, and grief/loss. She is passionate about working with people going through significant life transitions such as launching a career after college, reentering the workforce, navigating new relationships, and transition to parenthood.

Dr. Tabak’s approach is warm, direct, client-centered, collaborative and interpersonal. She strongly believes that the relationship between a client and therapist should be based in trust, compassion and security. She works to develop a unique relationship with each client where they feel safe to explore the difficulties that brought them in to treatment.

Dr. Tabak holds advanced training and certifications in Maternal Mental Health, as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). With these specializations, she is able to deeply understand the complexities and challenges that arise in the perinatal period, as well as effectively treat preexisting or recent trauma or loss experienced around fertility or during pregnancy, delivery, or postpartum.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Tabak has been a member on the Board for the Marin County Psychological Association and has supervised graduate level students in psychology at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, CIP in Marin County, and The Wright Institute in Berkeley. Dr. Tabak co-founded Thought Partners in Marin County, where she sees individual therapy clients in addition to providing supervision and training to pre licensed graduate students.
